Surviving the Tornado

Ellis insisted that most of the big rides at Como Town were too scary for him. I pushed him a little to try one ride with Nate. For agreeing to ride the Tornado, I made him a special challenge medal: "For bravery on the Tornado and conquering your fears."

Way to go, Ellis! Way to go, Charlotte.

I think I need to make such encouragements for myself.

Great picture.

Lately I've been seeing a lot of kids walking around, wearing capes, which I think is a great idea. I want a cape!

Matt says when he was in kindergarten (in California), they had capes for all the kids to wear whenever they wanted. He said it was super cool, on the one hand, but on the other, wearing a cape steeled them to do things they wouldn't otherwise have felt brave enough to do -- like jumping off the top of the jungle gym and trying to fly.

On the whole, however, I think feeling like a hero (or superhero) is a pretty cool thing. Wish someone would make me special medals when I do great things!
